ActivePivot Live - Value-added Features

ActivePivot Live goes beyond the characteristics of a traditional spreadsheet and BI interface, for it enables you to fully engage and leverage the powerful ActivePivot suite from your browser or tablet, wherever you are. It allows data exploration, instant analysis and the setting of controls throughout the suite of ActivePivot components.

Some of its important value-added features are described here.

Bookmarking: Allows each user to have a set of bookmarked views reflecting specific analysis. It also has collaborative functionalities so you can share your analysis in real-time, and even the changes you are making, with the people who you have authorised to view your bookmarks.

Intelligent Filtering: Facilitates navigation throughout the data by providing a wide variety of intelligent (‘smart’) filtering, displaying only the items relevant to you rather than all the available ones.

Conditional Formatting: Event based formatting can show different visual formats according to the event that just happened, for example it can allow you to see what has just changed in your Pivot View. In real-time, modified cells are highlighted, typically with green for an increased value, red for a decreased value, or blue for a new value (in a previously blank cell). The highlighting fades away automatically over a few seconds.

Note that more advanced rules can also be implemented; for example you could have the flashing of a particular cell twice, in red, when the value of a cell decreases by a number bigger than a given threshold. There is no limit to the type and complexity of the rules which can be modelled for this purpose.

Formulas: Enables you to create on the fly your own formula for a new calculated measure. You can combine any number of measures from the existing available list.

What-If Scenarios: ActivePivot Live is the perfect platform to enable ‘What-If’ analysis as users can run scenarios from the same control panel.

Sentinel: ActivePivot Live can be used to activate and deactivate rules which trigger specific actions. A specific pane for Sentinel can be added to ActivePivot Live to allow easy rule management. For more information on Sentinel please refer to its product page.
