ActivePivot's real time, OLAP-based, end-to-end technology is the enabler of real time analytics. The moment data is updated or added to the source system, it is loaded and implemented into the cube, and its impact is pushed to the user interface in real-time, without interrupting user queries.
For example, in the context of PnL analysis, a single change in market data affects the value of many financial instruments held by traders across all portfolios. ActivePivot's real-time OLAP engine pushes impacts of such changes immediately, allowing users to fully understand and react to the evolution of their profit and loss in real-time.
How Continuous Event ProcessingWorks
ActivePivot detects new/modified data in the source system, and incrementally updates its OLAP cube in real time. It can directly add or remove records. ActivePivot continuously compresses data, saving memory and enabling fast computation.
ActivePivot's real-time OLAP engine only aggregates the new data impacts, without having to rebuild the OLAP cube, which also saves time and minimises latency. It pushes the changes to the front-end tool (ActivePivot Live, Excel, or a 3rd party tool), using intelligent updating, so that only the appropriate data cells are refreshed. This optimises network bandwidth usage, and enables faster updates and a better user experience.
A 'continuous query' feature enables users or third-party software to continuously query ActivePivot to be informed of any change.
